Prayer for Students sitting examinations

In Saint Luke’s Gospel we read: Three days later, they found him in the Temple, sitting among the teachers, listening to them, and asking them questions; and all those who heard him were astounded at his intelligence and his replies. Luke 2:46-48

Spiritan Founder Claude Poullard Des Places, in 1705 opened a house of studies in Paris. At this time he himself was a student but Claude saw the difficulty other students had with the cost of education. He decided to seek funding and open a house for students who had financial challenges.  In this house before every study period, all present were asked to pray so as to work fruitfully. The prayers recited were;

Come O Holy Spirit

Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful
and kindle in them the fire of your love.
Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created.
And You shall renew the face of the earth.

O, God, who by the light of the Holy Spirit,
did instruct the hearts of the faithful,
grant that by the same Holy Spirit
we may be truly wise and ever enjoy His consolations,
Through Christ Our Lord.

followed by the Hail Mary

Hail Mary, full of grace.
Our Lord is with you.
Blessed are you among women,
and blessed is the fruit of your womb,
Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death.   Amen.

Blessing for Students before study or Exams (from The Veritas Book of Blessing Prayers)

Lord, pour out your Spirit of Wisdom on these students:
help them to remain calm, to attend carefully to the questions asked,
to think clearly, to remember accurately,
and to express themselves well.
Grant that they may reflect on the best of the work they have done
and the best of the teaching they have received.
Accept their best efforts in these examinations and in the great test of life on earth.
May your love be upon them, O Lord,
as they place all their trust in you. We ask this through Christ our Lord. AMEN
